HP CM sneaking at NABARD seminar in Shimla

Shimla:   Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the State Credit Seminar for the financial year 2024-25, organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

The event marked the launch of a credit potential scheme totaling Rs 34,490 crore, aimed at boosting agriculture, MSME, and other priority sectors—a significant eight percent increase from the previous year.

During the seminar, the Chief Minister highlighted the state's socio-economic development initiatives, including the Mukhya Mantri Swablamban Yojana, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, and other schemes promoting entrepreneurship and employment.

He urged banks to actively support these programs for their successful implementation.

Expressing concern over the 'loan to deposit ratio' in certain districts, the Chief Minister emphasized NABARD's vital role in making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant.

He outlined the state's commitment to combating climate change, encouraging green industries, and transitioning to e-vehicles.

In a significant move towards environmental protection, the Chief Minister announced a ban on the purchase of petrol and diesel vehicles in government departments from January 1, 2024. The state is also prioritizing solar energy, with a 32 MW capacity solar power project set to be operational in February.

Under the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Start-up Scheme, the government plans to provide assistance to unemployed youth for setting up solar energy projects. Additionally, a one-megawatt capacity green hydrogen project with Indian Oil Corporation Limited is in progress.

The state government aims to strengthen the rural economy, promote natural farming, and boost dairy-based industries.

Notably, the purchase rate for milk has been increased, and a Rs 250 crore state-of-the-art Milk Processing Plant is underway in Kangra district.

The Chief Minister commended NABARD stakeholders for their outstanding performance in various development programs in Himachal Pradesh. Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, and other dignitaries were present at the event.

This credit potential scheme aligns with the state's vision for economic growth and sustainability, reflecting a proactive approach towards agricultural and rural development.
