Srinagar/Shimla– Celebrating the 10th International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, highlighting its benefits for strength, health, and well-being. Speaking at a vibrant event held at Dal Lake, Srinagar, PM Modi joined yoga practitioners and emphasized the unparalleled energy in the region.

PM Modi encouraged participants to share their yoga selfies amidst the scenic backdrop of Dal Lake.

He promised people that Jammu and Kashmir will once again have the status of the state and their elected government soon.

He also addressed the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K' program, lauding the enthusiastic participation of Jammu and Kashmir's youth in the democratic process.

“Their active involvement underscores a profound faith in democracy,” he remarked. “I am confident that the day is not far when Jammu and Kashmir will once again shape its future as a state.”

National and Global Celebrations

Across India, celebrations echoed the Prime Minister's message. In the Himalayan states, large gatherings marked the occasion:

In Shimla  Yoga Day was marked at The Ridge in Shimla with a vibrant yoga session led by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.

The event, organized by the State Ayurvedic Department, saw participation from MLA J.R. Katwal, senior officials, school children, and local residents. Emphasizing the global embrace of yoga, the Governor attributed this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts and highlighted yoga’s deep roots in ancient culture, promoting its benefits for mental and physical well-being.

The gathering underscored the essential role of yoga in enhancing holistic health by connecting individuals with nature.

But there was no enthusiasm shown by the Sukhu government in celebration as there was hardly any official sessions of Yoga in the state.

"Through exercise, one attains health, longevity, strength, and happiness. Health is the greatest fortune; it is the means to achieve everything."

Howver on his post Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated, "India has introduced the world to the postures, significance, and benefits of yoga, a practice now proudly followed by nations around the globe."

Bjp leaders Anurag Singh Thakur and others led yoga sessions in Hamirpur.

Hundreds participated in yoga sessions against the serene mountain backdrop, emphasizing yoga’s role in promoting health and inner peace.

Known as the Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh hosted international participants who practiced by the Ganges River, highlighting the spiritual roots of yoga.

In Leh, Ladakh  A high-altitude yoga event featured sessions that underscored yoga's adaptability to diverse environments.

In other Indian regions, significant activities included:

In Chennai, Tamil Nad, Sessions near Marina Beach celebrated yoga’s accessibility to urban dwellers.

In Bhubaneswar, Odisha   Coastal yoga events promoted the practice as a means of community wellness.
