Shimla NGO’s Ambulance busted for Hash Smuggling..
Shimla, July 31: In a shocking revelation, an ambulance operated by a Shimla-based NGO was caught transporting hash, raising serious concerns about the misuse of emergency services in the city.
On Tuesday night, Shimla city police, while patrolling near Khalini Chowk, stopped an ambulance coming from ISBT for a routine document check. However, the officers soon noticed a strong hash odor emanating from the vehicle.
Upon further inspection, they discovered 1.55 grams of hash hidden in various compartments of the ambulance.
The driver was immediately arrested under various sections of the NDPS Act and the ambulance was impounded.
This incident has put the entire network of emergency service ambulances under scrutiny, with allegations that these vehicles, supposedly meant for ferrying patients, are being allegedly misused for transporting contraband or other things.
These vehicles run through sealed The Mall and The Ridge every now and then in the name of transporting patients.
Shimla’s SP confirmed that police would be conducting thorough inspections of all such vehicles operating in the city to ensure that they are not being used for illegal activities.
This revelation has sparked outrage among residents, who rely on these services for urgent medical needs.
The misuse of ambulances not only undermines the trust in these critical services but also puts lives at risk.
The authorities have promised stringent actions to restore the integrity of emergency services in Shimla.
