SHIMLA - Himachal Pradesh government's Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu decided to set up the Four Lane Planning area to regulate construction activities along the Highways in the state.
The planning areas aims to regulate "unplanned and unauthorized construction activities along specific highways (Parwanoo-Shimla Highway NH-5, Shimla-Matour NH, Pathankot-Mandi NH, and Kiratpur-Manali Highway NH-3).
This area would cover a distance of 100 meters from the edge of the control width on either side of the four-lane highway. Additionally, any future four-lane highways would also fall under this regulation.
Conducting Examinations:
The Cabinet decided to conduct examinations for certain Post Codes through the H.P. Public Service Commission. These examinations were not conducted by the previous Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur.
Expansion of Kangra Airport:
The Cabinet approved the land acquisition process for the expansion of Kangra Airport. The expansion would involve extending the runway length to 3010 meters, making it suitable for operating A-320 type aircraft. This expansion aligns with the government's plan to develop Kangra as the "Tourism Capital" of the State.
Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana 2023:
The Cabinet gave its approval to the guidelines for the Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana 2023. Under this scheme, eligible poor students would be provided loans up to Rs. 20 lakhs at a one percent interest rate for pursuing various courses such as engineering, medical, management, paramedical, pharmacy, nursing, ITI, polytechnic, and Ph.D. from recognized universities and educational institutions.
Cabinet Sub Committee:
A Cabinet Sub Committee was constituted, comprising Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh. This committee would address issues related to School Management Committees (SMCs) and Computer Teachers.
Government Degree College, Tauni Devi:
The Cabinet approved the opening of a Government Degree College in Tauni Devi, located in Hamirpur district.
Upgrading Police Chowki Bir:
The Cabinet decided to upgrade Police Chowki Bir, located in Kangra district, to a Police Station. Additionally, it authorized the creation and filling up of 10 posts of various categories for the upgraded Police Station.
Land Lease for Workshops:
The Cabinet granted land on lease to the Himachal Pradesh Bus Stand Management and Development Authority for constructing workshops in Jogindernagar, Mandi district, and Dharamshala, Kangra district. The lease period would be 40 years, and the rate would be Rs. 5 per square metre.
