SHIMLA- The Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, Prabodh Saxena, and Bhawna Garg, Deputy Director General of UIDAI, reviewed the status of Aadhaar enrolment and updates in the state.
The Chief Secretary asked the people of Himachal Pradesh to make sure their Aadhaar information, like address and mobile number, is up to date.
Even if there have been no changes in the past 10 years, residents are encouraged to update their Aadhaar by submitting the required documents.
The officials were instructed to inform people about the option to update their Aadhaar online so that more residents can benefit from it.
Bhawna Garg explained that a new initiative has been launched to strengthen Aadhaar by updating the latest Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents.
The UIDAI has introduced a feature called Document Update in Aadhaar for this purpose.
The Secretary of IT, Abhishek Jain, mentioned that this feature can be accessed online through the 'my Aadhaar' portal and at Aadhaar enrollment centers in Himachal Pradesh for a fee of Rs. 50.
However, until September 14, 2023, the charges for online Aadhaar Document Update have been waived off. It is advised that citizens take advantage of these options to update their documents and avoid any inconvenience.
