Huge Seizures in Himachal: Liquor, Cash, and Drugs Worth Crores Confiscated
SHIMLA: In a major crackdown since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was rolled out for bye-elections in Himachal Pradesh, authorities have seized illegal items valued at around Rs. 3.31 crore.
The police and tax officials have nabbed over 10,000 liters of illegal liquor, a hoard of precious metals, and large amounts of cash and drugs.
The operations, which ramped up ahead of the June 10 elections in Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh, have led to the confiscation of 10358 liters of illicit booze worth Rs. 14.12 lakh. Gold and silver totaling 3.13 kilograms, valued at Rs. 2.13 crore, have also been seized.
Enforcement agencies grabbed Rs. 93.66 lakh in cash, 1.06 kilograms of charas, 19 grams of heroin, 4.59 grams of smack, and 1.32 kilograms of poppy husk.
The seized drugs alone are worth lakhs. Moreover, the Industries Department imposed fines totaling Rs. 2.67 lakh in 74 cases under the Mining Act.
This sweeping action underlines the heightened surveillance and efforts to curb illegal activities during the election period.
