World Bank Team Visits Himachal Pradesh for Horticulture Development.
Shimla: A World Bank team, headed by Task Team Leader Bekzod Shamsiev, met with Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi today to discuss a new Horticulture Development Project.
The Minister emphasized the state's focus on horticulture, especially apple farming, and requested specific details from the World Bank team about the land and resources needed for the project. He assured them of full support to ensure its success.
Negi warmly welcomed the team according to Himachali traditions. The World Bank representatives expressed their satisfaction with past collaborations in India, particularly in Himachal Pradesh.
They praised the efforts of the state government, the Horticulture Department, and the Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) for their exemplary work in benefiting local farmers. Topics like crop insurance and other farming issues were also on the agenda.
The 15-member team, including Dr. Arvind Jhamb, Gerard Boyle, Dr. Ivana Dulic-Markovic, and Dhiren Sheth, is visiting the state to further develop its horticulture sector. Sudesh Mokhta, Managing Director of HPMC, thanked the World Bank for their keen interest in improving horticulture in Himachal Pradesh.
