Seven ministers sworn-in at Raj Bhawan in Shimla today

SHIMLA: All speculations and hobnobbing came to rest today  after seven ministers took oath of office and secrecy  at Raj Bhawan. As a result, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh has constituted his cabinet, with deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri already in his team.

Apart from this six MLAs were made as chief parliamentary secretaries.

But the Chief Minister has yet to allocate the portfolio to the seven ministers.

The notable 'delete'  or 'leftout' was Dharamshala MLA , Sudhir Sharma, who was the minister in the former Virbhadra Singh government.

The state governor Rajinder  Vishwanath Arlekar  administered them the oath of office and secrecy in a simple and glittering ceremony in the presence of Chief Minister, Congress president Pratibha Singh and other Congress leaders at Raj Bhawan.

Senior leader Col Dhani Ram Shandil, an  MLA from Solan  followed by Chander Kumar, MLA from Kangra, both belong to the reserved category were the first to take oath as minister at the simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan.

Thereby Congress has given representation to the SC,  which represent over 27 per cent of population in the state.

Three MLAs from Shimla district, where Congress won seven out of eight seat,  took an oath as Ministers.

Third to take oath was Harshvardhan Chauhan, an MLA from Shillai in Sirmaur district and represents the Hatti community, which was given ST reservation last year by the Central government. He is also a Rajput leader of the Congress.

Jagat Singh Negi, a tribal MLA from Kinnaur was the Forth to take oath. Congress has won two tribal seats of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur out of three. The third seat was won by the BJP Dr Janak Raj from Bharm

Rohit Thakur, grand son of late Thakur Ram Lal, former Chief Minister from Jubbal and Kotkhai in Shimla district was the fifth to take the oath.

Anirudh Singh, a three-time MLA from Kusumpti in Shimla district was the sixth who was swore in as the minister. He represents the Rajput community of the state and is considered close to Sukhvinder Singh.

Vikramaditya Singh, son of the former six- time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was the seventh to take oath as minister. He is the second time MLA from Shimla rural and represents the Rajput community of the state.

Six MLAs who took oath as CPCs include Sunder Singh Thakur from Kullu, Mohan Lal Brakta from Rohru, Ram Kumar Chaudhary from Doon, Solan Ashish Butail from Palampur, Kangra, Sanjay Awasthi from Arki Solan,

After the ceremony Sukhu said the Congress has given opportunity to the younger leaders and ample representation to the all communities and hence the state Cabinet has been formed and will work for the welfare of all sections of people in the state.

Sukhu ducked other queries regarding less representation given to the Kangra district, where Congress has won 10 out of 16 seats in the last assembly elections.
