Prompted by the  bypoll debacle  Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today announced that petrol and diesel would be cheaper by Rs 12 and Rs 17 per liter in the state as the state cut the cess on petroleum products after the Centre announced the same measure.

The CM's announcement came as Diwali gift to people of the State. But the state government fund starved coffers would loss a significant source of revenue running into several crores, said an official

In a Twit Jai Ram Thakur said the cut in fuel prices would give a lot of relief to consumers and general public. The cut in prices had been announced following similar cut announced by the centre.

According to the sources the recent poll debacle in bypoll in Mandi Llok sabha has given a big shocker to the Modi government and state government as Congress win all the four elections on November 2.

The Congress had raised the issue of petrol and diesel prices in the Election and the voters responded to the Congress and defeated all the four candidates in three state Assembly and Mandi Lok sabha.
