All Set for National Lok Adalat Across Himachal
Shimla, March 3:
A National Lok Adalat will be held in all courts of Himachal Pradesh on March 14 to help people settle their cases quickly and without lengthy court procedures.
The Lok Adalat is being organised under the patronage of Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, and under the guidance of Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Executive Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
According to the Member- Secretary HPLSA Ranjeet Thakur about 62,000 cases have already been identified for settlement.
These include traffic challans and other disputes. People can also pay compounding fees for motor vehicle cases online through ePay (eCourts Digital Payment), especially in traffic magistrate courts.
To inform the public, awareness campaigns are being carried out with the help of local bodies, NGOs, Panchayati Raj institutions, para-legal volunteers and public transport services. Meetings are also being held with lawyers, banks, insurance companies and financial institutions.
The Legal Services Authority has appealed to the media to spread the message so that more people can benefit from this opportunity to settle their cases in a simple and peaceful manner.
