SHIMLA:  As many as 70,000 cases have been identified for upcoming National Lok Adalat for Pre-Litigation and Pending matters to be held on May, 13, 2023 in all the Courts in Himachal Pradesh.

As per direction of the Hon’ble Sh. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and Executive Chairperson, Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, a Special Online Lok Adalat, for MV Challans cases at Pre-litigation Stage along with National Lok Adalat is also being organised in coordination with H.P. Police Department and Department of Transport.

HPSLA Member secretary Prem Pal Ranta said the stakeholders including courts, police and legal fraternity are working round the clock to bring matters to the national Lok Adalat in a big way.

H.P. Police Department is also using online portal for sending SMS messages to the parties and also for online deposit of compounding fee.

Online facility for payment of compounding fee through ePay (eCourts Digital Payment) has also been provided in case of MV Challans particularly in the
Courts of Traffic Magistrates, he added.

The litigant public is being made aware of the National Lok Adalat through SMS messages, jingles and distribution of IEC material and spreading awareness by associating local bodies Stakeholders, NGOs, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Para Legal Volunteers, Public Transport Services.

Till now, about 70,000 cases have been identified by different courts for settlement before the upcoming National Lok Adalat on 13 th May, 2023, Ranta informed. 

Besides this, about 1.50 Lakh traffic challan cases at pre-litigation stage have been identified.

SMS has already been sent to traffic violators through bulk SMS gateway, to facilitate paying of the compounding fee online without any physical appearance before the compounding authority. This figure may increase to 2 Lakh.

For this upcoming National Lok Adalat, a record number of cases have been identified both at pre-litigation and post-litigation stage.

Regular meetings are taking place with local Bar Associations, Insurance Companies, Banks, Financial Institutions for effective identification of
cases.

Till now, 525 meetings have been conducted with different stakeholders and 342 pre-lok Adalat sittings of parties have been arranged, Ranta said.

Media is also a big Stakeholder in spreading legal awareness amongst the public at large and always rendering valuable services in this regard.
