SHIMLA: Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia took the oath as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court today at Raj Bhawan, Shimla.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla in the presence of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, high court judges, and top officials.
Chief Minister Sukhu extended his congratulations, saying, “Justice Sandhawalia’s extensive experience and vision will add great value to Himachal’s judiciary. My best wishes for his tenure.”
Born on November 1, 1965, Justice Sandhawalia has a distinguished career. After completing his BA (Hons.) and LLB, he enrolled as an advocate in 1989.
Following his father’s illustrious legacy in the judiciary, he served as a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and even held the position of Acting Chief Justice before his current appointment.
The CM expressed hope that Justice Sandhawalia’s judicial acumen would uphold justice and strengthen the legal system in Himachal Pradesh.
