SHIMLA:  The sessions of Revenue Lok Adalats in various districts of the state have resolved  13,950 mutation and 527 partition cases, which were pending up to the Tehsil level.  The sessions were held on December 1st and 2nd.

According to a government spokesperson, the district of Kangra witnessed the highest resolution, with 3,839 mutation cases being settled.

Mandi and Shimla each saw the resolution of 2,190 pending cases, while Hamirpur successfully addressed 1,023 mutation cases. As of November 30th, the state had 21,212 pending mutation cases and 28,470 partition cases.

Despite this significant progress, there are still 7,262 mutation cases and 27,943 partition cases awaiting resolution.

The decision to conduct special Lok Adalats to expedite the resolution of these long-pending cases was prompted by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who took note of the backlog.

In total, across four Lok Adalats, including those held on October 30th and 31st, 2023, as well as the most recent ones on the last Friday and Saturday, a remarkable 45,055 mutation cases have been successfully resolved.

The Lok Adalats proved particularly effective in October, where 31,105 pending mutation cases were resolved.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has set an ambitious target for the disposal of all pending mutation and partition cases, directing that they should be resolved by January 20, 2024.

Monthly reports are being sought from all districts to monitor progress, and the Chief Minister's Office has requested comprehensive information on settled cases, including names, addresses, and phone numbers.

This proactive approach demonstrates the government's commitment to clearing the backlog of land disputes and ensuring timely justice for the citizens involved.
