Shimla: Special Judge Sh. Amit Mandyal today convicted Rajan Sharma of Mujaphar Pur, Bihar on charges under Section 354 A of the Indian Penal Code.
The case, titled "State of H.P. Versus Rajan Sharma" with FIR No. 76/2018, originated from an incident on June 29, 2018, in which the accused allegedly molested an 11-year-old girl in Chopal's market, promising her Rs. 500.
The public swiftly apprehended Sharma at the scene, leading to his subsequent arrest by the police.
Following a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was presented before the Ld. Trial Court.
Throughout the trial, the prosecution examined nine witnesses to establish the case.
In the end, Ld. Special Judge POCSO, Shimla, delivered a guilty verdict, sentencing Rajan Sharma to one year of rigorous imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000.
