HP HIGH COURT

Shimla/New Delhi, Sept 26: The President of India has appointed advocates Jiya Lal Bhardwaj and Romesh Verma as judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday, both appointments were made under clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution.

The two judges will assume office after taking charge of their respective posts.

The notification, signed by Joint Secretary Jaganath Srinivasan, has been forwarded to the Registrar General of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the state Governor, Chief Minister, and the Chief Justice of the High Court.

With these appointments, the sanctioned strength of judges in the Himachal Pradesh High Court is expected to get a boost, aiding in reducing the pendency of cases in the state’s top court.
