SHIMLA: Political temperature shot up in the Himachal Assembly on Monday after BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma moved a privilege motion against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Sharma submitted a formally signed written letter to Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, alleging that the Chief Minister has repeatedly misled the House.
The motion has sparked an uproar in the treasury benches, leaving the ruling Congress on the defensive.
Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania told reporters, “The allegations are of a serious nature. We are examining the matter and scrutinising the evidence.”
The move has intensified the political clash inside the Assembly.
Sharma in a letter claimed that CM has repeatedly made misleading statements inside and outside House. He claimed he has annexed the evidence along with the letter.
The Opposition is pressing the government on accountability, while the ruling side is dismissing it as a politically motivated charge.
