Shimla: Our politicians feign they remember and value families who made sacrifice to defend our sovereignty and territorial Integrity.  Here is a pillar of strength, Kamal Kant Batra, who breathed her last today  in Palampur, Kangra district.

At the age of 77, she peacefully departed, leaving behind a legacy etched in bravery and sacrifice.

Kamal Kant Batra stood as the epitome of resilience.

As the mother of Captain Vikram Batra, a gallant warrior who immortalized his name in the annals of history through his valor in the Kargil War, she bore the weight of her son's heroic deeds with grace and dignity.

Her journey was marked by both triumphs and tribulations.

Despite the unparalleled sacrifice of her son, Kamal Kant Batra found herself overlooked by the political establishments of both Congress and BJP.

However, amidst the indifference, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) recognized her significance, granting her a ticket in the political arena fielding her from Hamirpurin 2014.

Though the electoral victory eluded her, her spirit remained unbroken.

Kamal Kant Batra's presence resonated beyond the confines of her home, touching the hearts of millions across the nation.

She symbolized the  support behind the brave souls who defend our motherland, encapsulating the essence of the nation's collective pride and gratitude.

As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the indomitable spirit she embodied.

May her soul find solace in the embrace of eternity, and may her family find the strength to navigate through this profound loss.

Kamal Kant Batra will forever remain etched in our memories as the mother of India's brave son, whose legacy echoes the immortal words: "Ye Dil Maange More."

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu  had mourned her death expressing solidarity with the Batra family.
