Una: In a gesture of respect and remembrance, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited Gondpur Jaichand village in Una district to pay homage to the late Professor Simmi Agnihotri, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri.

Prayer meeting was held today  in her memory and she had passed away on February 9.

CM Sukhu expressed heartfelt condolences, acknowledging the profound loss experienced by the Agnihotri family, particularly by Mukesh Agnihotri and their daughter Astha Agnihotri.

Describing Prof. Simmi Agnihotri as an exemplary figure, CM Sukhu lauded her as an outstanding educationist and a dynamic social worker.

He said she made  significant contributions to the fields of education and social welfare, remarking that her legacy would endure as a beacon of inspiration for advocates of women's empowerment.

Reflecting on his acquaintance with Prof. Agnihotri during their university days, CM Sukhu recalled her simplicity and her  commitment to academic excellence.

The tribute ceremony saw the presence of senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who, despite not having met Prof. Agnihotri personally, paid his respects and acknowledged her diverse talents and lifelong dedication to knowledge and social causes.

The event also featured a documentary highlighting Prof. Agnihotri's life and achievements, further underscoring her profound impact on society.

Notable attendees included Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, and various MLAs and Congress dignitaries, who joined CM Sukhu in honoring Prof. Agnihotri's memory.
