Shimla: In a noble gesture, Satya Chauhan, 84, the proud mother of former Shimla mayor Sanjay Chauhan, left a lasting legacy by donating her cadaver to IGMC Shimla. She breathed her last yesterday.
The generous act, carried out in 2015 when she was 75, set a precedent to rest of society that aimed at aiding students and researchers at IGMC to benefit society.
Mrs. Chauhan's selfless contribution echoes the legendary tale of Dadhichi Rishi, who donated his bones for a noble cause.
The Chauhan family's resilience was evident as Sanjay Chauhan and his elder brother, Rajendra Chauhan, entrusted their mother's body to Dr. Anju Pratap Kaundal, of IGMC showcasing their courage and commitment to societal welfare.
The heartfelt tribute extends to Mrs. Satya Chauhan, who, throughout her life, exemplified the spirit of service, leaving an indelible mark on her family and community.
Shimla Residents bowed to her spirit and lauded the noble cause cherished by the family, who hails from Kotkhai in Shimla district.
IGMC has been facing an acute shortage of cadaver over the years as very few people donate their cadavers to aid medical research.
