SHIMLA: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Command have joined the state in mourning sad demise of Amit Sharma (23), Hawaldar Havildar Amrik Singh (39), Naib Subedar Purshottam Kumar, who were martyred in an accident while on patrol in Machhal sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Amit is son of Vijay Kumar of village Talasi Khurd, tehsil and district Hamirpur, Amrik Singh is from village Mandwara of Dhanari tehsil of district Una and Purshottam Kumar from village Majua Uttmi of Jammu. They were from 14 Dogra Regiment.
They died in the accident while on regular patrol in Kupwara sector after the vehicles in which these three brave-hearts were traveling skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge on Tuesday.
Expressing his condolences with the bereaved family members, Sukhu assured to extend all the possible help to the grief-stricken family and prayed for peace to departed souls.
Deputy Chief Minister, Mukesh Agnihotri also expressed deep anguish over the demise of army Jawans.
Lt Gen Dwivedi has saluted the three brave hearts sacrificing their life while on patrol to defend the country in the Kupwara sector.
In his condolence message, he said the government always holds the serving and ex-servicemen in high esteem. “We can never forget the sacrifices of the brave soldiers towards the Nation”, he said.
