SHIMLA- BJP's Rajya Sabha MP, Professor Dr. Sikandar Kumar has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Manohar, a 21 year old Hindu Dalit youth from Bhandal in Salooni sub-division of Chamba district.
MP demanded that the case be expedited in a fast-track court, ensuring the harshest punishment for the culprits as a deterrent for society.
He appealed to the state government to provide immediate financial assistance of one crore and a government job to the victim's family.
He called for a swift hearing of the case and urged the state government to take decisive action.
Dr. Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the incident and described it as a shocking act against humanity.
The BJP had raised several questions during a press conference, but the Congress spokesperson and the government's cabinet-ranked minister failed to provide satisfactory answers.
He also questioned how the main accused in the murder case had accumulated Rs 2 crore in his savings account, despite owning only 3 bighas of land but having possession of 100 Bigha.
The MP further criticized the government for not initiating a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Dr. Kumar stated that the barbaric nature of the murder was beyond imagination. He expressed his disappointment that such a heinous incident took place in the sacred land of Himachal Pradesh, particularly in a district like Chamba, known as Shiv Bhoomi.
Dr. Kumar charged that brutally killing a Dalit Hindu boy, dismembering his body, and discarding it in a drain was a shameful act against humanity committed by a family from a particular community.
Dr. Kumar stressed the need for a comprehensive investigation to understand the mindset behind such incidents, with the aim of preventing their recurrence.
He informed that the victim's family belongs to the Dalit community, and their case would be brought before the Scheduled Castes Commission.
