SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Congress leaders today Satyagrah in front of the Rajbhawan and tried to enter the premises in protest against the questing of Congress leaders and national president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by the ED in New Delhi terming it a vendetta politics and murder of democracy.
Congress leaders who sat on Satyagrah raised slogans against the Modi government and warned against the misuse of investigative agencies.
After leading the Congress Satyagraha outside the Raj Bhavan here today, state President Pratibha Singh alleged BJP government at the Center has unleashed political vendetta against senior Congress leaders, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi by making false cases against them.
She warned that Congress will not be afraid of the dictatorial policies and decisions of the Modi government and would firmly fight the dictatorship of the BJP.
She accused ED of harassing the leaders by putting undue pressure by way of 9 hour-long questioning of Rahul Gandhi.
Criticizing the police action on Congress leaders in Delhi, Pratibha Singh said they condemn police entering into Congress National Office and scuffle with their leaders. It is an broad day light murder of democracy in the country and every effort is being made to suppress the voice of people in an authoritarian manner, she alleged.
Expressing HP Congress solidarity with their leaders Pratibha Singh said Congress will continue to oppose undemocratic decisions of the Modi government in solidarity till it stops the misuse of investigating agencies, CBI, Income Tax or ED and withdraws these cases against their leaders.
Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri said the Modi government has converted the National Office of the Congress into a police cantonment. Congress leaders are being stopped from going to their office, he charged.
Describing it as an undeclared emergency, Mukesh said that today everyone will have to hit the streets to save democracy in the country. Rahul Gandhi is being questioned by the ED all day in the case which has been closed, he claimed.
He said that by reopening the matter, the government has tried to defame their leaders, Gandhi family, whose family gave two Prime Ministers to the country and who laid down their lives for the country's independence and integrity.
He also gave a strong message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Dharamsala today, saying that Congress is not afraid of these tricks.
MLA Vikramaditya Singh said BJP is scared of Congress in the country. The efforts are being made to suppress the voice of the opposition and Congress stands with its leaders in the country today and will fight a decisive battle against any injustice meted out to them.
All India Congress Committee spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore said in his address that dictatorship is going on in the country at this time. “We condemned the police infiltration in the National Office of the Congress and the assault on their leaders and Congress is not afraid of these and will fight it at every level, he said.
Apart Pratibha Singh, Mukesh Agnihotri, Working President Harsh Mahajan, MLA Ramlal Thakur, Nand Lal, Mohan Lal Brakta, Vikramaditya Singh, Mahila Congress President Zainab Chandel, District Congress Committee Urban sat and staged Satyagrah outside Raj Bhavan.
In addition to President, Jitendra Chaudhary, General Secretary, Rural President Yashwant Chhajta, office bearers of State Congress Committee, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, Youth Congress, office bearers of NSUI, officials of departments and a large number of High Court advocates and other party workers were present.
