Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has been made as a brand ambassador and Rahul Mitra, a film maker as a brand advisor of Arunachal Pradesh for promotion of tourism and celebration of the 50 years of statehood of this Himalayan border state in the Northeast.
Sanjay Dutt supporting a traditional tribal cap and tribal gear has struck chord with local youth during his appearance at shows in the state.
His pictures with Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu interacting with the locals have gone viral on social media, with the opposition Arunachal Congress taking a dig at the Khandu government for spending crores of rupees on the Bollywood stars to hog up publicity. Interestingly Sanjay Dutt is the son of former Congress MP and Bollywood star late Sunil Dutt.
But Pama Khandu remained unfazed by the criticism and launched Bollywood star as brand ambassador.
Local women dressed up in their traditional attire and jewelries performing their traditional dances have become centre of attraction during the tribal fests and shows for celebration of 50 years in Arunachal Pradesh.
Khandu said, “Arunachal welcomes Bollywood’s biggest icon Sanjay Dutta as brand ambassador and Rahul Mitra as brand advisor of Arunachal’s 50 years of statehood celebration”.
Pema Kanda said 50 years of statehood is a big event for any state. It is all the more special as Arunachal is witnessing a revolution in development- roads, communication and economic development, he added. Khandu said the remote villages like Khazalang, Chayang Tajo in the west Kameng district are having now road connectivity adding the government is promoting tourism and local tribal culture in a big way celebrate the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and 50 years of statehood of Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh MP and Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju and Pema Khandu have been touring the length and breadth of Arunachal Pradesh and holding functions with local tribes for the last few months celebrating 50 years of its statehood.
Rijiju tweeted saying that communication, roads and highways networks have improved drastically connecting the remote villages in west Kemang district and others remote constituencies. “For the tourists, the road and air connectivity has witnessed a sea change and it is being appreciated by the tourists visiting Northeast today”.
The farmers are now selling their kiwis and orchids in the various markets in India. Tribal sports and cultural have got a boost and Naga and other tribal heroes of the likes Rani Gaidinliu who remained unsung for decades and have now got recognition.
Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters museum is being created in Nagaland that will join the people of Northeast to the national mainstream, said the netizens in support of the government. The union home minister Amit Shah has laid the foundation stone of the museum last month.
On the other hand Arunachal Congress tweeted showing pictures of landslides, breached roads, said the BJP government was spending crore of rupees on Bollywood stars on publicity. The state lacks roads and communication connectivity, the party said.
