In an interim order, Supreme Court of India today allowed resumption of NEET- 2021 counselling and admissions for 2021-22 as per the existing reservation quota for PG and UG courses. The Apex court allowed 27% quota for other backward classes(OBC), 10% quota of economically weaker section(EWS) for this year.
The interim order has come as big relief to the resident doctors who have been protesting against the government, demanding the NEET-2021 counselling across the country.
Hailing the Supreme Court judgment, Federation of Resident Doctors Association stated that Supreme Court order has come as a big relief for all the doctors in the country at a time when the country is suffering from third wave of Corona pandemic. We hope the PG counselling schedule will be released soon, Federation said.
The inter order has allowed admission into PG medical courses. It has allowed 27% OBC reservation quota, 10% EWS with Rs 8 Lakh criteria to continue in this session. The EWS criteria will be decided in March, the court said.
