Two passengers were killed and 25 others were injured seriously when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into the gorge in Chuwari in Chamba district on Tuesday.
All the injured persons have been rushed to the nearby hospital after the Chamba district administration launched the rescue operation soon after the incident. According to police most of the passengers were women who were on on their way to express condolence to their relative and they were traveling in a private pickup vehicle.
The police have yet to ascertained the cause of the accident as the investigation is on.
Expressing his shock over the accident Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said the administration along with the locals took the injured to the hospital for treatment. The exgratia relief has been given to them, he said.
He has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and speedy recovery of the injured.
