DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand police on Wednesday today busted the two fake websites booking helicopter rides for tourists for Char Dham and nabbed the kingpin from Nawada in Bihar.
According to the Uttarakhand police, the kingpin has already dupped pilgrims worth Rs 15-20 lakhs.
The kingpin has launched two fake websites, which were tracked by police. These are www.himalayanheliservice.com and www.kedarnath.com, the Uttarakhand police said.
The kingpin has adopted a simple modus operandi to trap his victims for the helicopter joyrides to Char Dham which never took off.
He has put the fake mobile numbers on the websites for booking tickets, the police found.
Before confirming the booking for his victims, the kingpin used to shut down his websites to confirm tickets for money. He used to transfer money into different bank accounts, said the police.
The police trapped the kingpin when he used ATM to withdraw money. He was trapped in the CCTV camera of the ATM outlet. He was arrested from Nawada in Bihar today.
The police said they are contacting the persons whose money was transferred by the cheater into his bank accounts. He has managed to corner Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, the police said.
The state government has awarded the Uttarakhand team for busting the racket with a cash prize of Rs 15,000.
