IAMD Centre Solan

SOLAN:  Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy (IAMD) in Solan has brought smiles on faces of hundreds of people suffering from the muscular dystrophy in India over the years. IAMD is doing a commendable work in treatment and rehabilitation people afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) in India since 1992.

IAMD is not only providing relief to the suffering people but it also is creating  public awareness about the Muscular dystrophy.

What sets IAMD apart is that the centre  has been  operated mainly by persons living with Muscular Dystrophy. The organization is working for all types of disabilities in Himachal Pradesh.

What is Muscular Dystrophy?  

Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive neuro-muscular genetic disorder, where muscles gradually lose their strength, leaving the person totally crippled and dependent even for their basic needs, said the experts at IAMD.

There is no known cure so far. Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy can slow down and prolong the life.

Manav Mandir

IAMD has established a 50-bedded Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Rehabilitation Center (IMDRC) “Manav Mandir” in Solan  for the rehabilitation and management training for the patients of Muscular Dystrophy and their families.

The outdoor and indoor services, at this center started in January 2017.

The organization has established Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Rehabilitation Centre (IMDRC) “Manav Mandir” for the management of Muscular Dystrophy.

The centre is providing patient-specific Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Medical and Genetic Counselling, complete care management, help in test and diagnosis, rehabilitation, orientation, rejuvenation, diet management, and all other alternative therapies for people living with Muscular Dystrophy.

The indoor as well as outdoor services are being provided to the people living with Muscular Dystrophy coming from all over India. “I would also like to inform you that IAMD is organising 3 weekly camps at IMDRC-"Manav Mandir" Kothon, Solan for Muscular Dystrophy (MD) patients in one month”, said its spokesperson.

The number of Muscular Dystrophy (MD) patients who are visiting the centre is increasing day by day due to fall in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Country.

Presently the number of patients in one camp remains around thirty. But in the present camp which started from 24.05.2022 the number of patients increased up to 37 patients who visited this centre along with 80 attendants. 

Special Camps

IAMD is also organizing national coaching camp of Boccia game in collaboration with National Paraboccia Federation  for muscular dystrophy affected as well  as players having  Spinal Injury  from 24-05-2022 to 30-05-2022 at Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Center, Solan.

As  wheel chair bound people can play only Boccia game so IAMD offers opportunity to people with muscular dystrophy to play Boccia game at its center. It is the only center having indoor courts of international standards in India.
