Edwardians Get a Glimpse of New Skills and Career Opportunities at CBSE Skill Expo
SHIMLA, AUGUST 25:
Edwardians including guest teams from 22 other schools in the capital city got a first-hand glimpse into emerging skills, future careers and new-age opportunities as St. Edward’s School, Shimla hosted the CBSE Skill Expo and Guidance Festival 2026–27 on Tuesday.
The event brought together educationists, skill-development experts, industry professionals and students, creating a vibrant platform for innovation, creativity, vocational learning and career guidance.
DGP Ashok Tiwari and DIG Anjum Ara were the chief guests at the inaugural ceremony. Among the prominent guests were Dr. Biswajit Saha, Professor and Director, Department of Skill Education, CBSE; Satish Pahal, Joint Director, Department of Skill Education, CBSE; Dr. Gaurav Kapoor, skill-development expert; Dr. Shakti Arora, cyber expert; and Karishma Gupta, Territory Manager, Turnitin.
Addressing students, DGP Ashok Tiwari stressed the need to develop practical skills, adaptability and responsible use of technology, urging young minds to look beyond conventional career choices and explore opportunities emerging in a rapidly changing world.
The Skill Expo gave students an opportunity to showcase their ideas and projects around seven future-oriented themes — animation, visual effects, gaming and comics; environment and sustainability; health and wellness; entrepreneurship and financial literacy; tourism and hospitality; agriculture and rural development; and media, design and communication.
Students from 25 schools participated in the Expo, presenting projects focused on creativity, innovation, problem-solving and real-world applications.
The projects were evaluated by an expert jury.
The Guidance Festival added another dimension to the event, exposing students to emerging career pathways, industry expectations, technology and the skills likely to shape the future workplace.
Principal Rev. Fr. Henry Joseph Raj welcomed the guests and highlighted the school's commitment to connecting classroom learning with practical skills and real-world opportunities.
The dignitaries were felicitated by the Principal and School Manager Fr. J. Dexen.
The event offered Edwardians and participating students more than just an exhibition of projects — it provided a window into the skills, careers and opportunities of tomorrow.
