Ajey’s ‘Rohtang: Aar Paar’

Creates Waves in Hindi Literary World...CM

Shimla, March 4, 2025 – Renowned Hindi bard from Lahaul-Spiti, Ajey, has taken the literary world by storm with his latest book, Rohtang: Aar Paar. The book was launched today by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at his residence, Oak Over, in Shimla.

Several dignitaries attended the event. Among them were Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary of Education and Culture; Prof. Chander Mohan Parashera, Head of the Tourism & Tribal Studies Department at Himachal Pradesh University; and Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh head of HelpAge India.

Others included Prem Chand, retired librarian of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study; Desh Nirmohi, Managing Director of Aadhar Prakashan; and Viswadatt Jenna, Marketing Head.

Published by Aadhar Prakashan, Panchkula, the book is a unique non-fiction work. It brings together memoirs, travelogues, diary entries, letters, blog posts, and conversations with young writers.

Ajey’s narrative explores the distinct lifestyle, cultural heritage, and fragile ecosystem of the Himalayas and Trans-Himalayas.

Rohtang: Aar Paar has already made a mark at the Delhi Book Fair, where it was a hard sell.

Hindi critics have lauded it as a remarkable literary achievement.

Publisher Desh Nirmohi is confident that the book will be a bestseller in Hindi non-fiction this year.

Eminent poets and critics have hailed it as "a testament to the indigenous people of the Himalayas."

Chief Minister Sukhu praised Ajey’s work and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting local talent. "Such outstanding literary works deserve all possible encouragement," he said.
