LEH: UT of Ladakh in the region is all set to become first carbon neutral UT in India as Border Roads Organization has taken a lead in constructing net carbon neutral living complex for its Karmyogis at Hanle at the dizzying height of 14,100 feet.
These tiny sleek golden sand houses are powered by renewable solar and wind energy that makes Hanle a high tech green hamlet in the golden landscape of Ladakh in the Himalaya.
These 12 golden “green houses” would provide home to 57 karmyogis even in sub-zero Himalayan temperatures.
They will get thermal comfort, prevent freezing of water and facilitate cooking in sub-zero surrounding temperatures, said BRO official.
BRO will provide these comforts with zero carbon Emissions.
These carbon neutral houses have been built under the project Himank of BRO to make UT of Ladakh as the first carbon neutral UT in India.
