SHIMLA: With having no formal educational background, Divyang Kavya Varsha, 32, never imagine she would get recognition for her "special creativity".
Varsha cannot stand. She cannot sit. She slithers like a crippler. But she supports herself.
Her countenance and face emit a rare spark- a substance of which a great writer is made of.
Kavya Varsha has proved her name to hilt literally: She has been "raining poems" (Kavya Varsha) on her mobile Phone inspiring many disadvantageous children with a mantra: Never Give Up.
She has not got recognition from any government agency, but from a Shimla-based Himalaya Literary Culture and Environment Forum(HLCEF).
Himalaya Manch has awarded Excellent Talent Writing Award to Kavya Varsha for her stories and poems.
She sees no school. She has no Guru. Nobody taught her how to write stories or poems.
Kavya Varsha learnt her craft from an unlikely non-traditional Guru: the android Mobile Phone!
While the parents and parents crib about excessive use or abuse of mobile phones by their kids. “My kids are wasting times on mobile phone. They do not study…” are the common complaints.
But here is Varsha, who has taught to the rest of the world as to what is the real creative use of technology!
Beating all of her handicaps, Varsha sees an “eye to eye contact” with any writer of fame.
Varsha at 32 today is a story teller and a poetess in her own right!
HLCEF has announced "Vilakshan Pratibha Lekhak award" for the year 2022 to Kavya Varsha for recognition of her stories.
Conquering all obstacles and handicapped Kavya Varsha learned Hindi, Punjabi and Pahari languages on mobile.
She is constantly writing poems, songs, stories and memoirs on her mobile phones. She has collection of 117 poems, "Neel Gagan Ko Chhune Do" to her kitty.
It has been published in the year 2021. Her poems have been compiled into several common collections.
President, HLCEF, S R Harnot, who is a writer of fame in Himachal, says Kavya Varsha’s six stories now figure in short films. These films are on the script written by Kavya Varsha.
These are: Pillow, Good Bye Papa, Samaj, Pocket Money and Doctor Hi Banana Paga.
Her song “O Jaane Jaan” has also been shot.
Kavya has also earned national and international fame as the films have got six National and International awards.
Films on her writings have also been officially selected 15 times.
Varsha was born on February 8, 1990 in a nondescript Darkoti village in Jwali Tehsil of Kangra.
Her parents- Shri Baldev Raj Chaudhary and mother Smt. Pawan Kumari- have been supportive of their daughter's endeavours since her childhood.
Kavya is born with congenital physical defects since her childhood.
But they never allow her shortcomings hinder her “special creativity” that she has developed and has nurtured herself over the years.
Though she may be a struggler to earn enough, Varsha has a heart of a great Philanthropist.
Out of the little government pension that Varsha gets, she has chosen to help girls at own her level.
