Lieutenant General Girish Kalia—hailing from this land of warriors—today assumed charge as the Director General of the Territorial Army, adding another milestone to Himachal’s distinguished military tradition.
Gen Kalia is a DAV Shimla alumnus and entire DAV fraternity is in celebration mode.
Upon taking over the appointment, Lt Gen Kalia paid solemn homage to the Bravehearts at the National War Memorial, honouring their supreme sacrifice and unwavering devotion to duty.
The moment reflected both his personal commitment to the forces and the deep-rooted ethos of service that soldiers from Himachal embody.
With his elevation, Lt Gen Kalia joins the long list of Himachali officers making waves in the Indian Army, reinforcing the state’s reputation as a cradle of bravery.
Himachal stands tall today, celebrating yet another illustrious son who carries forward its rich tradition of valour and patriotism.
