Dharamshala, March 19: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has received an overwhelming response to its Screening Test for deputation in the CBSE Sub-Cadre-2026, with 12,781 candidates applying for various teaching and administrative posts.
According to a notification issued by the Board, 11,290 applications were found complete with the prescribed fee, while 1,491 applications were rejected due to incomplete forms or non-payment of fees within the stipulated deadline.
The application process was conducted online between February 11 and March 13, 2026.
Heavy Rush for TGT, JBT Posts
Among the posts, JBT (Junior Basic Teacher) attracted the highest number of applicants at 1,833, followed by TGT (Arts) with 1,303 candidates, and TGT (Non-Medical) with 971 applications. Shastri posts also saw significant interest with 756 applicants.

Lecturer English – 527
Lecturer Commerce – 459
Drawing Master – 389
Principal posts – 374
In the lecturer category, subjects like Physics (327), Maths (328), History (313) and Chemistry (301) witnessed steady competition, while niche subjects like Psychology saw very few applicants.
Rejected Candidates Given Final Opportunity
The Board clarified that candidates whose applications were rejected but claim to have deposited fees within time can submit documentary proof at the Board office by March 19, 2026, to obtain their roll numbers.
The list of rejected candidates has been uploaded on the official website of HPBOSE for transparency and verification.
The screening test is part of the state’s effort to streamline deputation into the CBSE sub-cadre, drawing strong participation across teaching disciplines.
