SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated Rs 2.40 Crore Park phase-1 near Oakover, which was developed under AMRUT Mission.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister said this Park would emerge as a major attraction for locals as well as for tourists. Rs. 2 crore will be spent on second phase of this Park under Smart City Mission, he added.
He said that unique feature of this is that it has open gym, playground for children, better way for the general public to visit. A waterfall has also been established for the attraction of tourists and local public, he added.
Apart from this, a storage tank with a capacity of 1.14 lakh liters has also been built in the Park and plants planted in the park would be irrigated with its water.
Thakur said that selfie points and wall paintings showing the beauty of Shimla add new look to the Park. Park has more than 30 species of plants and lush green pine trees that has added to the beauty and help conserve nature as well, he added.
Chief Minister said efforts are afoot to restore the glory of Shimla city. The roads of the city are being widened and more parking are being constructed to facilitate residents as well as tourists, he said.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that this Park is a step of the State Government in beautification of Shimla city. Several parkings are being constructed in different parts of city to facilitate locals as well as tourists, he added.
Mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation Satya Thakur Koundal, Deputy Mayor Shalinder Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi, Commissioner Shimla Municipal Corporation Ashish Kohli, local Councillor Dr. Kimi Sood, Councillors of Shimla Municipal Corporation were also present.
