SHIMLA: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and use their energies for constructive work. He said that drug addiction was only one concern in front of everyone, for which we all have to find a solution together.
Presiding over the closing ceremony of the three-day Himachal Pradesh University Youth Festival Group-1 organized at Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV) Shimla today, Governor called upon the students to become good human beings first.
He said that any business should be adopted in life but before that try to be a good person and good citizen.
"The examination result is only a 'memory test'. Degrees can only give us employment and it is for us to decide whether we want to be a job seeker or an employer", he said.
He appealed to set a goal in the Amrit Kal. He urged the students to read good books. "There are many challenges before the youth which they have to understand and be prepared for", he said.
The Governor also distributed prizes to the winners of the Youth Festival on the occasion.
Earlier, Dr. Ruchi Ramesh, Principal RKMV welcomed the Governor and detailed about the various activities organized in the Youth Festival.
She also gave information about the historical background of the college.
Director, Physical Education and Youth Program, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla Prof. Hari Singh, President of Parent's- Teacher Association J.R. Bhardwaj, In-charges from various colleges and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
