Somnath Temple Stands Eternal, Symbol of India’s Civilisational Courage: PM Modi

New Delhi/Somnath:   Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the historic Somnath Temple as a timeless symbol of India’s spiritual strength, resilience and civilisational courage, saying the temple continues to stand tall despite centuries of invasions and destruction.

Sharing his reflections after visiting Somnath, Modi said the skies above the temple town witnessed a “magnificent confluence of pride and valour” as the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team performed a breathtaking flypast, filling devotees and visitors with the spirit of “Bhakti and Shakti”.

The Prime Minister said Somnath represents the indomitable spirit of Bharat and the unwavering devotion of its people.

Recalling the temple’s turbulent history, he noted that nearly a thousand years ago, the first of many attacks on Somnath took place.

“Those who carried out such attacks believed they could destroy the ethos of our land. But they were wrong,” Modi said, adding that the courage and determination of “the brave children of Bharat Mata” ensured that Somnath was rebuilt again and again.

The Prime Minister also recalled that exactly 75 years ago, the doors of the reconstructed Somnath Temple were reopened in the presence of India’s first President Rajendra Prasad, sending a message to the world that while invaders had disappeared into the dust of history, “the soul of Bharat endures”.

Describing Somnath as eternal, Modi said the temple stands today as a shining testimony to India’s civilisational continuity, spiritual faith and cultural resilience.

“Somnath showcases our civilisational courage and our unbroken devotion. May the blessings of Mahadev always remain upon us all,” the Prime Minister said.
