Shimla: In a recent review meeting of the Tribal Development Department, Minister Jagat Singh Negi highlighted the state government's commitment to prioritizing the development of tribal areas in Himachal Pradesh.
A significant step in this direction is the allocation of Rs 857 crore under the Tribal Area Development Program (TADP) for the fiscal year 2023-24, he said.
Negi emphasized the government's focus on education by mentioning the operation of four Eklavya Model Residential Schools, providing free education to 24,794 tribal students.
Negi said the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Vikas Yojna, is supporting livelihoods for tribal communities through four Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in the state.
To enhance convenience, the construction of Tribal Bhawans in Nurpur and Rampur is underway. The Vibrant Village Programme aims to develop tribal villages across the state, further promoting holistic growth.
Prof. Joginder Singh Dhiman, Director of the Pre-Examination Coaching Center for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at Himachal Pradesh University, outlined the facilities provided to students through these centers, underscoring the government's multifaceted approach to uplift tribal communities.
