Shimla: BJP state president and Shimla Lok Sabha MP Suresh Kashyap met Union Minister Arjun Munda and urged him to take up the long pending demand of the people for the tribal status for the Hati community of Giripar area of Sirmaur district hat falls in Shimla parliamentary constituency. He urged him to fulfil this demand at the earliest.
He said that this has been a long standing demand of Hati community of the Transgiri region to declare the region as a tribal area. Transgiri area of district Sirmour, which is adjoining Jaunsar Babar of Uttarakhand, comprises about 144 panchayats in four blocks of district Sirmour and has a population of about 02.75 lakhs, he said.
In 1967, the people of Jaunsar Babar area were declared tribal. But the Hatti community of the Giripar region of Himachal was not declared as a tribal, he said. The district Sirmaur Giripar and the area of Jaunsar Babar of Uttarakhand were part of the district Sirmaur princely state during the princely period, he said.
He said the representative of district Sirmour had met former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2011 they met Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2017. They also met the former Tribal Affairs Minister.
He said he met the Minister of State Jual Oram and RGI (Registrar General of India). All the reports sought by the concerned ministry have been sent to the center by the state government, he said.
Ethnography of Hati community of Transgiri area has been sent to RGI. The minister assured that they would seek the details of the complete case, further action will be implemented, Kashyap said.
