Alert: Schools Closed in Shimla Tomorrow Due to Heavy Rains
Shimla, August 31: In view of continuous heavy rains, landslides, and road blockages across Shimla district, the administration has ordered the closure of all government and private educational institutions on September 1, 2025 (Monday).
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap (IAS), who also heads the District Disaster Management Authority, said the decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students, as the IMD has predicted more heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
The order applies to schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, coaching centres, nursing institutes, and Anganwadi centres across the district. Heads of all concerned departments have been directed to ensure strict compliance.
Parents and students are advised to stay updated and avoid unnecessary travel in the wake of landslide risks and falling trees.
