Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap today ordered immediate closure of the Old Dhalli Tunnel, citing serious safety concerns after heavy rains triggered slippage and leakage inside the structure.
The tunnel, built during the British era, has been declared unsafe for both vehicles and pedestrians by the PWD.
The administration has diverted all movement to the new Dhalli Tunnel until further notice.
Authorities have urged commuters to cooperate and avoid the old tunnel route to prevent any mishap.
