Chamoli, September 23, 2025: The Commanding Officer of the Garhwal Scouts has faced a notice from the Chamoli District Magistrate over the use of high-decibel music during a cultural programme organised at Badrinath Dham.
The District Magistrate said the administration had learnt through media and social media reports that a large gathering took place at the sacred shrine and a sound system was used during the event.
In the notice, the DM pointed out that Badrinath Dham is a major centre of religious faith and that the use of amplified sound during such programmes could adversely affect the sanctity of the holy site, religious sentiments and the image of the local administration.
The Commanding Officer has been asked to explain whether permission from the competent authority was obtained for organising the cultural programme at Badrinath Dham and the reasons for using the high-decibel sound system.
The DM has also directed that measures be taken to ensure that such an event is not repeated at Badrinath Dham in future.
