Homestay Owners Seek Extension for Offline Registration Deadline
Shimla, July 21, 2025
The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department today issued a notification to start offline registration under the Himachal Pradesh Homestay Scheme 2025, drawing a mixed response from the stakeholders.
While welcoming the move, the Himachali Homestay Association has urged the department to extend the 30-day registration deadline, citing the extra time required in offline paperwork compared to the earlier online process.
“Offline registration is a welcome step for those facing digital challenges, but it also requires more time and effort.
We appeal to the Tourism Department to extend the deadline beyond 30 days to ensure no stakeholder is left behind,” said Tanuja Dhanta, President of the Himachali Homestay Association.
The Association has also urged all homestay owners to submit their documents at the earliest and complete their registration process without delay.
To assist applicants, the Association plans to conduct awareness camps across the state, starting next week from Shimla, depending on weather conditions.
These camps will guide homestay operators through the registration process.
For any help, homestay stakeholders can reach out to the Himachali Homestay Association. "We are committed to supporting all homestay owners across Himachal," added Dhanta.
