Shimla- A delegation from the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) met with Onkar Sharma, Pr Secy Forest, and Nagesh Kumar APCCF to discuss their expertise in various fields under JICA project.
They showed interest in helping the state of Himachal Pradesh with REDD Plus, Sustainable Ecosystem Management, Livelihood of Forest Fringe Communities, Food Nutrition for Children and Poor Village Communities, and Natural Farming Practices.
The delegation offered their expertise on a volunteer basis and will prepare reports and support the state in brand creation and value chain for traditional products.
Onkar Sharma shared information about the state's geographical conditions, the dependence of rural communities on forest resources, and government efforts to increase the green cover.
Nagesh Kumar Guleria gave an overview of the JICA Forestry Project's work in enhancing green cover and supporting livelihoods of forest-dependent communities.
The delegation will prepare a detailed concept proposal for the state government to consider.
Mr. S Vijay Kumar, a former IAS Officer from Himachal Cadre, supports this organization.
