SHIMLA: In view of the new challenges posed by the spate of accidents in the state, the police investigating officers from Himachal Pradesh got tips on the new investigating methods for the effective management of traffic in the state.
They got tips at the three-day training was organized by the Department of Traffic Tourism and Railways of Himachal Pradesh.
They got tips on how to collect digital evidence and present it in court. How to use Modern equipment Alco Sensor Laser Speed Meter, laser speed gun.
They also got to know how to use iRAD and e-DAR. Besides, they also got updates on MV Act and Traffic Rules and Regulations.
They also got to know about their responsibilities and how to treat the crowd gathered on the spot.
They also were trained how to immediately open the road to other vehicles after the mishap on the roads.
Roads play an important role in accelerating the country's economy. It can contribute to development only if the road is safe for all.
It was informed that more than 1.35 million deaths occur worldwide every year, of which India accounts for 12%.
The number of road accidents in Himachal Pradesh is also very alarming. Sharma said continuous efforts are being made to reduce traffic accidents in India.
In the new Motor Vehicle Rules, the amount of fine was increased and new engineering standards were implemented for the purpose of vehicle safety.
On analyzing the data of accidents of Himachal Pradesh for the last 5 years, it was found that 12720 accidents took place in Himachal Pradesh out of which 8570 took place in rural areas.
As high as 65% of accidents were caused by drivers under the age of 40. About 26% of accidents have occurred between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
Incidents of road accidents involving pedestrians have been found to be higher in Una, Baddi and Paonta Sahib.
The training workshop will reinforce Himachal Pradesh Police’s commitment ed to implement road safety.
“People should start following the rules on their own so that others become responsible road safety warriors”, Police officials said.
The course was concluded today by DIG TTR Gurudev Sharma. On this occasion, AIG Sandeep Dhawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Narvir Singh Rathore also gave training to the participants on different topics. Training was mainly given in the following subjects.
