SHIMLA: As many as over 60 People were killed- 23 in Shimla, nine in Solan, 18 in Mandi, three each in Kangra and Hamirpur, so far while 13 more were feared buried in a massive flash Flood-landslide that swept away houses/sheds including a Shiv Mandir in the Shiv Baudi area in Summerhill in the capital city of Shimla hre on Monday August 14.
In Another incident, seven people were killed in cloud burst at Mamlik Khyabla in Solan sub-tehsil while five were rescued.
The two children were killed in Chalog village in Arki Solan district after the walll collapsed on them.
In Chalahar in Mandi district, a house collapsed and buried five inmates in the debris when the flash flood swept away the house and flooded others. Three people were rescued and five bodies have been retrieved from the debris so far.
Seven people of a family were killed in Kleshdhar village in Kamand in Padar subdivision of Mandi district after their house collapsed due to heavy rains.
In Fagli landslide in Shimla city, five people were reported dead- three bodies were retrieved from the debris, while two other succumbed on the way to hospital, said the police.
The staffer were killed in the Rs 28 Crore Slaughter House which was wiped out by the flash flood in the nearby Nallah triggered by the collapse of the three vacated houses. The tree fell and smashed houses in Krishanagar locality in Shimla which that in turn snowballed into the flood of debris hitting the modern Slaughter House.
As many as three persons are under treatment in the hospital. ī
Accompanied by Health Minister Dr Dhani Ram Shandli, PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Shimla MLA Harish Janartha, Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan and others, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reached out to the victims at Summerhill and Fagli and expressed his condolences and support to the families.
The rescue teams comprising NDRF, Army and Firebrigade, police are on the spot and have launched the rescue operation being monitored by Chief Minister Sukvinder Singh Sukhu and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, who rushed there soon after the news spread.
The four people, rescued in the morning died on the way to IGMC, six bodies, including two bodies of children have been retrieved from the debris so far.
There were over 25- 30 people in the Shiv Mandir and hopes of their survival are dim.
Bu the daunting task is to remove the beams and concreate safely from the wreckage so that they could save them alive. Nobody knows as to how many people were in the temple when the complex collapsed.
Number of houses are under construction at the site and debris was being dumped in to the nallah, charged the locals.
Shiv Baudi was a small water Baudi and but devotees developed mindlessly into a big concrete structure temple.
The police have yet to confirm the toll feared buried in the landslide at Summerhill.
The two victims are rescued from the debris where are in critical condition and were rushed to the IGMC, Shimla for treatment.
The large number of locals have gathered at the site amid fury of rains to retrieve the bodies from the debris, with the families of the victims going in a state shock and trauma over the worst ever tragedy in the capital city where the HP university is located.

IMD Centre Shimla has predicted further rainfall today and strongly advised against unnecessary travel within the state.
In Shimla City, several key roads are blocked, including Tutikandi- Fagli, Khalini- bypass road at Lalpani Bridge, Bamloei-Tolland Road at Himland Hotel where two multi-storeyed buildings hang in balance due to the landslide.
The Kasumpti -Panthaghati stretch is blocked at Jal Bhavan, and Vikas Nagar-SDA Complex is hindered due to a landslide.
The situation remains challenging as authorities strive to clear debris and restore connectivity amidst the ongoing rainfall and landslides.
