SHIMLA: Lt. Gen. Surinder Singh Mahal, AVSM, VSM, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC Shimla, received a warm farewell from the Director General of Police and all ranks of H.P. Police at the Police Headquarters Shimla.
General Mahal, with 39 years of distinguished service in the Indian Army, is set to retire on November 30, 2023.
In recognition of outstanding work, the personnel of Himachal Pradesh Police were honored with the Army Commanders Disc and Commendation Certificate. General Mahal commended the police personnel for setting an example with their excellent work. The list of officers and officials awarded is attached herewith.
During his illustrious career, the Army Commander served in various prestigious appointments and, upon his arrival at the Police Headquarters, received a smart Guard of Honor from the police personnel.
Sanjay Kundu, IPS, Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, and other senior police officers welcomed the Army Commander.
DGP H.P praised Lt. Gen. Mahal for his exemplary 39-year career, highlighting his various prestigious command and staff appointments.
Lt. General Mahal, recipient of the VSM, AVSM, and COAS & GOC-in-C Southern Command Commendation Cards, emphasized the great coordination between the Police and Army during his tenure, resulting in fruitful outcomes.
General Mahal commended the professionalism, diligence, and integrity of the Himachal Pradesh Police, making it one of the top police forces in the country. Reflecting on his life and times, he shared a message of positive leadership, citing the guidance of the Holy Gita that has shaped his life. The General encouraged officers to focus on duty without being overly concerned about the results.
A high tea and farewell party were organized in his honor, attended by senior Army Officers, Ms. Satwant Atwal Trivedi, IPS, ADGP-CID and SV & ACB, Sh. Abhishek Trivedi, IPS, ADGP-Law & Order, Sh. Prem Singh Thakur, IPS, IG-AP & T, Sh. Gurdev Sharma, IPS, DIG-TTR, and others.
