Fire in Jhuggi in Una

UNA: In a tragic incident, four children in the age-group of six to 17 were burnt alive in a fire at Bane Di Hatti in Amb area of Una district on Wednesday night. 

According to the police, the fire engulfed the Jhuggi at Bane Di Hatti in late night hours on Wednesday.

Among the victims identified were two brothers and a sister and they were watching TV when the fire broke out.

But the children were burnt alive. Before fire brigade reached the spot the children were already dead.

The children belonged to the migrant labour Bihar family.

The parents of children were in shock and staged protest, demanding justice and compensation for the disaster in the family.   

The police have yet to ascertain reason behind the fire. 

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri have expressed their shock over the incident and south a report from the district administration. They have expressed sympathies with the bereaved families over their tragic death.
