New Delhi/Shimla: In a his address during the Global Summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of critical issues surrounding AI governance, ethical considerations, and the potential for AI to shape or destroy the 21st century.

 Addressing the gathering at three days long Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit that started at Bharat Mandapam,  Prime Minister said collaboration and commitment among nations to create a global framework for the ethical use of AI was the need of the hour.

The summit  has come at a time when the AI Deep Meme and  content have become a big concern as the most of the governments mainly in the  Himalayan states are applying AI at all level of governance posing challenges to the cyber and data security. 

He highlighted the need for responsible, human-centric AI governance, expressing concerns about the potential misuse of AI tools, especially in the hands of terrorists.

During his address, Modi proposed the establishment of a comprehensive framework, including protocols for testing and diplomacy, to ensure the responsible use of AI.

He stressed the urgency of reaching a concrete plan to prevent the misuse of AI, citing the risks associated with cybersecurity and the impact on global security if AI tools fall into the wrong hands.

Modi's speech underscored the commitment of G20 member countries to the Delhi Declaration Principles, reaffirmed during the New Delhi summit.

The Prime Minister called for a collective effort to prepare a global framework within a fixed timeframe, expressing the need for conviction, commitment, coordination, and collaboration among nations.

The summit also featured an Indian AI exhibition, where Modi interacted with experts and participants.

He raised several key questions and suggestions, urging AI experts to consider the inclusion of digital services in local languages to enhance digital accessibility in diverse regions of India.

Modi emphasized the importance of preserving languages that are no longer spoken, including Sanskrit, and proposed leveraging AI to carry forward the rich knowledge and literature associated with these languages.

Furthermore, he discussed the potential of AI in reviving Vedic Mathematics and linking missing volumes with the help of AI.

Modi also raised concerns about the credibility of AI-generated information and suggested measures, such as introducing software watermarks, to enhance transparency and accountability.

The Prime Minister concluded his address by calling upon the global community to take immediate and collaborative steps in shaping the future of AI responsibly.

As the year comes to a close, Modi urged swift action in completing the global framework to protect humanity from the potential risks and challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
