Shimla: Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s wife, Kamlesh Thakur, has won Dehra assembly seat by 9399 votes. Dehra's Mayakewale have honoured their 'Jawanyi' CM by electing their daughter as an MLA.
In the Dehra by-election, Kamlesh Thakur secured 32125 votes, while Hoshyar Singh git 22860, giving Thakur a lead of 9265 votes.
Thakur got 612 postal votes while Hoshyar Singh got 478 votes.
ECI declared her winner. Kamlesh defeated Singh by a handsome margins of 9399 votes as her Mayakewale came in her full support as CM Sukhu has promised them development.
As an Independent MLA, Singh had pushed them to the margins for the last over 7 years or so, the Congress had charged.
Singh had won Dehra seat twice in the past as an independent. But he later resigned and joined BJP and got party ticket.
Hoshyar Singh had got lead of 72 votes in the first two rounds in Dehra, but later as counting progressed Kamlesh led the show.
This time he faced humiliating defeat at the hands of novice Kamlesh Thakur, whose parental house falls in Dehra.
In the Nalagarh by-election, Hardeep Bawa of the Congress has won the seat by 8990 votes against BJP’s KL Thakur. Bawa made his political debut. He got 34608 votes, while Thakur got 25 618 votes.
BJP candidate Ashish Sharma won the Hamirpur seat by 1571 votes from Hamirpur by securing 27041 votes against Dr Pushpinder Verma of the Congress , who got 25470 votes.
Ashish Sharma had won Hamirpur as an Independent in last assembly elections. He joined the BJP and resigned from the seat.
CM was congratulated by PCC president Pratibha Singh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, and Shimla MLA Harish Janartha and several others.
"Himachal's people have triumphed over the power of money with their collective strength, delivering a strong rebuke to the BJP's political conspiracies" Sukhu said.
This is a victory of the people. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the divine-like people of the land of gods," said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on winning two seats.
