Shimla : HP Department of State Taxes and Excise conducted a ten-day crackdown on Volvo buses. Complaints had poured in regarding these buses facilitating revenue loss by smuggling goods into the state.
229 Volvo buses were meticulously inspected, resulting in Rs. 6.40 lakh in fines for illegal goods transportation in violation of GST law.
The department warns violators to cease immediately and promises stringent action against repeat offenders. They encourage the public to report GST evasion.
